Dr Provencher has been recognized by her peers as a Canadian leader in the field of breast diseases. A surgical oncologist by training and a member of the Centre for Breast Diseases from 1987 to 2020, she has acted as its director from 2003 to 2018. With a Master’s degree in Medical Education, Dr Provencher is also an Associate Clinical Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at Université Laval. The CMSDF received the highest academic rating (the MX rating) from the RUIS Laval (Université Laval). Under Dr Provencher’s administration, the Center's reputation has grown and extends beyond the province of Quebec. With involvement in more than 100 breast cancer studies to date, Dr Provencher is a leading Canadian expert in the field. Her research has been recognized by her peers and published in prestigious scientific journals, such as the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of Clinical Oncology and Lancet Oncology.
