Doctor Pierre Gagnon is a psychiatrist specialized in psycho-oncology, psychosomatic medicine, and geriatric psychiatry and the direcctor of the Department of psychiatry and neurosciences of the Faculty of medicine at Laval University. He is a researcher and the chairman of the Michel-Sarrazin Research team in psychosocial oncology and palliative care (ERMOS), and the chairman of the Réseau québécois de recherche en soins palliatifs et de fin de vie (RQSPAL). His research focuses on deliirum associated with cancer, on psychotherapy, especially using an existential approach, on palliative care, and on psychiatric complications of cancer. He is actively teaching different aspects of psycho-oncology and palliative care.
