Dr. Sofia Matta is the Senior Director of Medical Services at Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Program and is an Instructor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. She received her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, NY. She completed her residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Payne Whitney Clinic. Dr. Matta is board-certified in psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, brain injury medicine, and addiction medicine. After completing her training, she worked in psychosomatic and addiction medicine, while she also became a medical acupuncturist prior to working for the US Army and US Navy. She focused on the treatment of active-duty military and obtained her board certification in Brain Injury Medicine while working at the National Intrepid Center of Excellence, Intrepid Spirit Center at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton. She has presented at the APA and ACLP on the Proactive Consultation Liaison Model and received an Innovation Award while she was at the VA. She has has authored a journal article on post-concussive sequelae of mTBI in the military. She has presented at National and International Conferences in Brain Injury Medicine and has been involved in academic psychiatry. Her clinical focus has been on treating adults with PTSD, brain injury, neuropsychiatric disorders, pain, and co-occurring substance use disorders.
