Tareq Yaqub, MD is a board certified general and child and adolescent psychiatrist and currently serves as the Medical Director of Psychiatric Acute Care Services at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. He completed his medical training at Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine. He completed his general/adult psychiatry residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin. While there, he was awarded the Resident Teacher of the Year Award. He was also a recipient of the inaugural Austen Riggs Resident Excellence in Psychotherapy Award. After residency, he completed his training in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Michigan, where he also was concurrently a fellow through the American Psychoanalytic Association. While at the University of Michigan, he was recognized by the student-led Learning Environment Task Force for his positive contributions to the educational environment. He then completed a fellowship in Advanced Child and Adult Psychodynamic Psychotherapy through the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute. His clinical and academic interests include: resident education/development, expanding access to psychiatric care, and neuropsychiatric syndromes in neurodevelopmental disorders.
