Monica Lopez De Victoria is a Miami native and multidisciplinary visual artist/educator who has shown her work internationally for over 20 years. She is a Puerto Rican Latina and a German/Swedish American who is investigating the rippling movements of emotional volume, supernatural connection, and optical illusions in the 4th and 5th dimensions. She is interested in the internal geometry of the mind and heart, the intellect and emotion, and the space between where these differences touch. Her colorful aquatic videos, performances, paintings, installations, video games, drawings, textiles, and experiments visualize these layers around us. While being an artist in residence at the Bauhaus in 2018, she was deeply impacted by Oskar Schlemmer's theories about emotional space, movement, and the body. These ideas and the aesthetics of Art Deco, sea-level rise, pastels, the Everglades, tropical healing, wave patterns, and sunset color gradients have influenced her work and life.
