Amarelis Raudales is a clinical psychology doctoral student at the City College of New York (CCNY). Amarelis has five years of training in the research labs of Drs. Beatrice Beebe and Amy Margolis. She studied mother-infant interactions with Dr. Beebe and worked with Dr. Margolis on a study of peripartum depression with Latina and Black mothers. In this role, she conducts a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) visit and administers the Structural Clinical Interview for DSM-5 (SCID-5) in Spanish or English. Through her research experience, Amarelis gained interest in assessments for underrepresented racial-ethnic minorities of low-income backgrounds. In the summer of 2021, Amarelis was awarded an NIH ECHO Diversity Supplement (5UH3OD023290-0) to continue her research on measuring peripartum depression symptoms in Latina and Black women to inform on culturally sensitive strategies for diagnosis, treatment, and intervention. This supplement will prepare Amarelis as a clinician and researcher by promoting her dissertation and future proposals in her early career.
