Sara Carlini M.D. is a board-certified adult psychiatrist and a board-eligible consultation-liaison psychiatrist at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn. In addition to her work on the consultation-liaison psychiatry service, she is participating in the founding of the Brooklyn Center for Perinatal Psychiatry, a division of the Adult Ambulatory Department, pioneered by Director Dr. Paulette Ginsburg and focusing on clinical treatment of women during pregnancy and the post-partum.
Dr. Carlini recently graduated the Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship at Zucker Hillside Hospital/Northwell Health as a participant in the Women’s Mental Health Track. She completed her Psychiatry residency at the Zucker Hillside Hospital/Northwell Health Psychiatry Residency Training Program. While in residency, she was engaged in the Research Track and served as a chief resident in her fourth year. She attended medical school at the Penn State College of Medicine. She graduated Wellesley College with a B.A. in Psychology and English literature.
Through her training, Dr. Carlini has developed clinical expertise in Women’s Behavioral Health and has nurtured an interest in the development of collaborative and multidisciplinary care initiatives for women. She has published in peer-reviewed journals, co-authored a book chapter, and presented her work at national professional conferences. Dr. Carlini’s most recent peer-reviewed publication was “Management of Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder: A Scoping Review,” currently available In the International Journal of Women’s Health.
