Dr. Jacqueline Posada is a consultation liaison (CL) trained psychiatrist and assistant professor at the University of Texas Dell Medical School in the department of psychiatry. Clinically she spends her time as an inpatient and outpatient CL psychiatrist taking care of individuals who experience both medical and psychiatric illness helping them cope with the profound effect these conditions have on their lives.
Dr. Posada completed her bachelors of science in biology at The George Washington University. After university, she worked at the National Institution of Allergy and Infectious Disease for two years in a lab focused on HIV. She attended medical school in Galveston, Texas at the University of Texas Medical Branch; there she discovered her passion for working with underserved populations and an interest in improving the health care system at large. She completed her psychiatry residency in Washington, DC, at George Washington University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and her Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship at the GWU-Inova Fairfax Hospital program in northern Virginia. Throughout early career she has worked in major academic hospitals and healthcare startups.
Dr. Posada is an active member of the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and the Academy of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry. As a psychiatry resident, she received the prestigious SAMHSA Minority Fellowship Award, and she continues to serve in the APA as a member of several committees.
