Dr. Mahgoub received his medical degree from university of Khartoum, Faculty of Medicine in Sudan in 2007. He trained in Psychiatry in Sudan before he moved to US. He completed his psychiatry residency in Penn State Hershey Medical Center in 2016. He worked in New York City as teaching faculty and served as an inpatient unit director at Maimonides Medical Center. Dr. Mahgoub currently works as an attending in the inpatient unit of Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute and as an assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral health at Penn State Medical School, where he works mainly with geriatric population and performs ECT.
Dr. Mahgoub has interest in medical education, and he received several teaching awards for excellence in medical education. Additionally, he has several publications and mentored several students and residents in several scholarly posters, presentations and publications.
Dr. Mahgoub is interested in mood disorder, catatonia and in the improvement of nosology and descriptive psychopathology of psychiatric disorders.
