Jonathan "Reid" Black is a PGY-3 Psychiatry Research Track Resident at UAB School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama. Originally from the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Reid became interested in medicine from learning about his mother's career as a pharmacist, and he discovered his enthusiasm for neuroscience during his studies at the University of Mississippi. He is a graduate of UMMC School of Medicine in Jackson, MS. In the research track, he is studying the methamphetamine-sensitive circadian oscillator under the mentorship of Dr. Karen Gamble and Dr. Aurelio Galli. His clinical interests include consultation-liaison and emergency psychiatry. He is serving as Chief Resident for the 2023-2024 Academic Year. Outside the Department of Psychiatry, he co-chairs UAB GME MedPride. When he is not working, he enjoys pursuing his musical interests, piano and choir, and playing D&D with his friends.
