Vice Chair, Collaborative and Integrated Care

Dr. Lisa Sombrotto is Vice Chair of Collaborative and Integrated Care and an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Sombrotto received her M.D. in 1988 at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., graduating with distinction and is a member of AOA. She completed her psychiatry internship, residency, and fellowship training at the Payne Whitney Clinic at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.
In 1994, Dr. Sombrotto was selected to lead two newly created services at Payne Whitney; the Psychiatric Emergency Program and the Scatterbed Service. In subsequent years, Dr. Sombrotto has assumed positions of increasing responsibility in clinical management and leadership for Weill Cornell Psychiatry. During that time, there have been continued opportunities for program development or redesign that have required program planning, staff development, policy development and collaboration with architects and designers. In 2016, Dr. Sombrotto led the effort to develop a telepsychiatry program to provide psychiatric evaluations to patients to regional emergency rooms that lacked on-site psychiatric expertise.
In July 2016, Dr. Sombrotto was appointed Associate Chef Quality Office for NYPH Psychiatry. This role encompassed the goals of standardization and regionalization of safe practices in psychiatric and non- psychiatric areas of the hospital. In February of 2018, Dr. Sombrotto was appointed to the Joint Commission Suicide Risk Reduction Expert Panel.
As part of employee harm reduction initiatives, Dr. Sombrotto was tasked with leading an effort to establish a BERT for the NYP/WC campus.
