Dr. Hammer is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Internal Medicine at Tulane University. She is the Psychiatry Clerkship Director for Tulane School of Medicine and Assistant Program Director for the Combined Med/Psych Training Residency Program. Clinically, she works in primary care and outpatient mental health at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Affairs Hospital and Clinic, where she founded a clinic for long COVID and Post-ICU Care Syndrome. She is an analytic candidate at the New Orleans-Birmingham Psychoanalytic Center. Her professional interests include narrative medicine, psychosomatic symptoms and illness, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, critical care psychiatry and integrative primary care. Her current scholarly work focuses on combined training education and holistic recovery from critical illness.
