In 2013, Dr. Theodote K. Pontikes joined Loyola University Medical Center (LUMC) as an outpatient child and adolescent psychiatrist and as a faculty member of the Stritch School of Medicine, where she is currently an Associate Professor. After completing Psychiatry residency and a Clinical Medical Ethics fellowship at the University of Chicago, she completed fellowships in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (Massachusetts General Hospital/McLean Hospital) and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (Cambridge Health Alliance). Dr. Pontikes has experience working in outpatient and inpatient settings and as part of a multidisciplinary care team. She is also experienced in systems-of-care, and has earned a MBA degree in Health Care Management (Loyola University Chicago). She is currently the Program Director of Psychiatry residency training at LUMC.
Dr. Pontikes is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Adult Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. She is also certified in Obesity Medicine by the American Board of Obesity Medicine. Dr. Pontikes is a Distinguished Fellow of both the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the American Psychiatric Association and is a fellow of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.
Dr. Pontikes is especially interested in interdisciplinary collaboration and integrated care for pediatric and adult patient populations; in transcultural issues and the reduction of healthcare disparities; in patient advocacy; patient safety and healthcare policy; and in medical education and mentorship.
