Dr. Sarmiento completed her BA in Psychology at the University of Florida, followed by an MEd in Psychology and Human Development at Harvard University, and post-baccalaureate studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to medical school, she worked as a therapist for children with ADHD, autism, and learning disorders, and participated as a research assistant in published studies on the effect of light on depression, fatigue, and sleep quality in cancer survivors. At Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine, she was elected to the Gold Humanism Society, was a teaching assistant in the Meaningful Medicine Program, and held leadership roles in PsychSIGN, AMSA, and SNMA. She is currently a PGY-3 psychiatry resident at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA.
