Dr. Javier Garcia is a bilingual psychiatrist with extensive experience in acute care and consultation psychiatry. He received his medical degree from Downstate University Medical Center, followed by residency training at Zucker Hillside Hospital. In addition to his medical training, Dr. Garcia holds a Masters of Academic Medicine from the University of Southern California and a Masters of Medical Management from Carnegie Mellon University.
Currently, Dr. Garcia serves as the Chair of Psychiatry at SSUH at Northwell Health, where he is dedicated to providing high-quality psychiatric care to patients from diverse cultural backgrounds. He is double boarded in addiction medicine, allowing him to address both the mental health and substance use needs of his patients.
Dr. Garcia is passionate about education and committed to transforming healthcare to improve patient outcomes. He is focused on increasing access to care, shifting from volume to value based care and facilitating integration of mental health and addiction treatment into primary medical settings.
