Kinnari Ruikar is a third year resident within the Department of Internal Medicine at UTSW Medical Center in Dallas, TX. She attended medical school at UTSW and was drawn to the diverse patient population she has the privilege of taking care of at Parkland Hospital and UTSW. She plans to pursue a residency in Psychiatry after completing her training in Internal Medicine. At this time, her future career interests lie in Consult-Liaison Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry due to the strong overlap between medicine and psychiatry in both fields. She is also involved in the Medical Education Track in her residency program and hopes to stay in academic medicine in an effort to continue to develop competent and compassionate future physicians. Outside of work, she enjoys playing with her puppy, Sherlock (yes, he is a detective when it comes to treats), reading, listening to podcasts, baking, and teaching dance.
