David Van Norstrand, MD, PhD, is a graduate of Mayo Medical School where he completed his MD as well as a PhD in cardiovascular genetics. He completed his psychiatry residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital and is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has completed a one-year fellowship in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, and a fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry at Cambridge Health Alliance. He is currently a staff psychiatrist at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, where he directs the consultation service to medical and surgical units and serves as an embedded psychiatrist for a number of internal medicine practices. He is the Lahey site director for the third year medical school rotation in psychiatry at Tufts University School of Medicine, where he is an assistant professor. He is co-author on a number of peer-reviewed publications. He spends the majority of his “free time” chasing after four rambunctious children.
