Beth Heaney received her Masters of Science in Nursing degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing from Yale School of Nursing, and her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Population Health from Rush University. She began her psychiatric career working as one of the first Nurse Practitioners on the Behavioral Intervention Team at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She then moved to Southern Illinois, working at a Federally Qualified Health Center providing psychiatric evaluations and medication management in a rural, underserved area. While there she developed and instituted a Psychiatric Collaborative Care Management Model as part of her doctoral work. She then returned to the world of proactive psychiatry consult at the University of Rochester, where she is the Clinical Director of the PRIME Service (Proactive Integration of Mental Health Care in Medicine). In addition, she has a joint appointment with the University of Rochester School of Nursing, where she teaches psychopharmacology to Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner students.
