Dr. Nathanson completed his residency in psychiatry and fellowship in psychosomatic medicine at Boston Medical Center. He completed a Masters in Public Health (health law and bioethics) at the Boston University School of Public Health and a fellowship in bioethics at Harvard Medical School.
He has worked as a consultation-liaison psychiatrist in various settings, including general medical hospitals and specialty centers, such as an HIV/AIDS inpatient unit and outpatient clinic.
Dr. Nathanson is the physician lead of the consultation-liaison psychiatry service at North York General Hospital in Toronto, Canada and a consulting psychiatrist for the Mental Health and Wellness Program at University Health Network's Altum Health.
Dr. Nathanson also serves as a psychiatrist member of the Consent and Capacity Board of Ontario, an independent provincial tribunal which adjudicates mental patients' involuntary status or incapacity to consent to psychiatric treatment.
