Dr. Kozel is a psychiatrist and professor in the Florida State University College of Medicine as the Mina Jo Powell Endowed Chair in Neurological Sciences. As Director of FSU Neuromodulation the Co-Director of FSU Mood and Anxiety Center of Excellence, he endeavors to develop novel neuromodulation treatments, provide evidenced-based treatments for people suffering from psychiatric disorders, guide the next generation of clinical researchers and clinicians, and provide community outreach to increase the awareness of treatment options available for psychiatric disorders. He has received grant funding from the NIH, DOD, and VA. He has published over 85 peer reviewed research articles in multiple disciplines that have been cited over 6,500 times. He has been invited to give lectures at international conferences on various topics including neuromodulation. Dr. Kozel is a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a Fellow of the Clinical TMS Society where he has been elected twice to the Board of Directors as well as being selected to Co-Chair the Clinical Standards Committee. In addition, he has been instrumental in the training and assisting with the VA’s National TMS dissemination program out of the Palo Alto VA.
