Pedro José Fernandez, M.D serves as Chief of Psychiatry at Parkland Health and is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He also serves as the Associate Training Director for the Combined Internal Medicine and Psychiatry residency program at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He was recently appointed to the Texas Opioid Abatement Counsel to ensure that money recovered through statewide opioid settlement agreement is allocated fairly and spent to remediate the opioid crisis. Dr. Fernandez earned his medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine and completed residency at Boston Medical Center. He completed fellowship at Yale University and holds boards in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. Dr. Fernandez joined the UT Southwestern and Parkland in 2017
