Dr. Boland is the chief of staff and senior vice president at The Menninger Clinic in Houston, Texas, as well as co-host of Menninger's Mind Dive podcast. He is also a vice-chair of the Menninger Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) and the Brown Foundation Endowed Chair in Psychiatry at BCM.
Before coming to Houston, he served as vice-chair of education and director of the psychiatry residency program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, and as an associate professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He is board-certified in psychiatry with expertise in medical education, consultation-liaison, and geriatric psychiatry. He is an alumnus of Georgetown University, where he earned his undergraduate and medical degrees.
Before joining Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dr. Boland had an 18-year tenure at the Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University, Providence, R.I. For more than 30 years, he has been an active member of the American Psychiatric Association, and is former president the American Association of Directors of Psychiatric Residency Training, the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, and the Association for Academic Psychiatry. He is currently a Director of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member of the Board of Regents for the American College of Psychiatrists.
