Ihuoma Njoku, MD is a Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry fellow at the University of Pennsylvania with a passion for education, research, and global health. She was born and raised in Baltimore, MD, attending the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, completing Bachelor of Science in both Biological Sciences and Psychology. She went on to attend the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where she received the Bert and Sally O'Malley Award for Outstanding Medical Student Research. Her current clinical interests include global and refugee mental health. Her academic interests include healthcare delivery, the physician shortage, and medical trainee education. Her passion for medical student education and compassionate care has been recognized by the Gold Humanism and Honor Society (GHHS) Leonard Tow Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Awards as well as induction into the GHHS. Dr. Njoku plans to incorporate her training to close the gap in access to mental health services, delivering care through the collaborative care model.
